I remebered reading about Ex Rioters and Bungie game on forming a new studio (Theorycraft) to make independent games. One of their mottos was to make the deepest games and satisfy himan needs. They want to make 10,000 hour games. A very ambitious goal.

We’re a new, independent game studio on a mission to make the deepest games in the world, games that are just better when played with your friends.

We believe games serve fundamental human needs: the need to belong; the need to express one’s creativity; the need to master something.

The game anniunced looks like a Leage of legends style game. I have not played MOBA in a long time but the designs of the chracters remind me of the similar art styles.

Hybrid PC game blends League, Apex Legends, and Smash Bros. into something ambitious

Based on the inital tralers they want to combine squad based and MOBA gameplays. I believe they will try to make this to esport games, given their background. I think based on the initial game they might have a chance to steal way the engagement from other games in the similar genre.

Its not surprising thst games will remix various gameplay elements and coming from the ex AAA devs of Riot and bungie this is what we get.

They also had a lot of investment.

Theorycraft also has the investment to fund this ambitious project that aspires to engage players for over 10,000 hours. In March 2021, the studio raised $37.5 million in a Series A round led by NetEase. This was followed by a $50 million Series B round in September 2022 led by Makers Fund. Other key backers include NEA, Bitkraft Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners, Sisu Game Ventures and a16z.
